Kim Kardashian Launches Private Equity Firm to Invest in Consumer and Media Brands

Kim Kardashian adds strategic investor to her resume and pursues new, start-up businesses to fund.

The TV personality, entrepreneur and social media influencer teamed up with 16-year veteran of global investment firm Carlyle, Jay Sammons, to form private equity firm SKKY Partners. Kardashian and Sammons will serve as co-founders and co-managing partners, and Kris Jenner (Kardashian’s mother) will serve as a partner at the firm.

SKKY Partners announced that it plans to make both controlling and minority investments in “growth-oriented, market-leading consumer and media companies”. Its target industries include consumer products, digital, e-commerce, consumer media and entertainment, hospitality and luxury.

In 2019, Kardashian founded Skims, an underwear and apparel business worth $3.2 billion, after the company raised $240 million. She also launched a skincare line called SKKN BY KIM.

“I am excited to launch SKKY Partners to invest in next-generation consumer brands, leverage my experience in building and launching global businesses, and partner with innovative companies to help them grow,” Kardashian said in a statement. “I look forward to working closely with Jay and our team to identify different investment opportunities and build the firm’s portfolio of world-class companies for our investors.”

Kardashian has hundreds of millions of followers on social media, including over 329 million on Instagram alone. She starred in the Hulu reality series “The Kardashians” along with other members of the famous family, and season 2 will premiere on September 22.

Sammons most recently served as Carlyle’s global head of consumer, media and retail. He will manage the day-to-day operations of SKKY Partners, including creating investment opportunities. Overseeing the development of her family’s multibillion-dollar business collection, Jenner will also partner with SKKY to identify and track investment opportunities.
