Review: CSB Women’s Study Bible

Today I have the honor of reviewing the CSB Women’s Study Bible on the blog. Can I just get real with you? I’m just over the moon on cloud nine to be able to bring you this review. Bibles have to be one of my favorite things. I don’t like to admit it but I’m pretty addicted to new Bibles. I always love stalking the Bible section at Lifeway everytime I go in so when I was given this opportunity I jumped at the chance.

Please note that this is not sponsored in any way. This review is my honest opinion. I would never recommend or review anything that I didn’t personally read or try out. I received this Bible free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review of it.

This Bible comes in three different cover options. It comes in hardcover, softcover teal with flowers, and a soft cover brown version. The Bible itself is a CSB translation which stands for Christian Standard Bible.

I have been using this translation for about a year now and absolutely love it. Growing up I used NKJV as well as NLT. I find that for me the CSB is easy to understand while keeping close to the original translation.

The layout of the Bible is beautiful! There are so many different features throughout to help you navigate through and study God’s Word. My only complaint is that I wish the page that explained the different sections was at the front of the Bible instead of at the back even though it tells you in the table of contents that it was.

When you open the Bible you have the title page of who the Bible is presented too. Next, there is a page for the wife and husband’s family tree, marriage contract (The Ketubah), family milestone page, as well as a page for spiritual mothers. I think the spiritual mother’s page is my favorite.

After the table of contents, you have an introduction to the study Bible for women and how to study the Bible written by Dorthy Kelly Patterson. The Christian Life article written by Rhonda Harrington Kelly is next. Then there is a section that talks about the CSB Bible itself followed by charts of transliteration, table of weights and measures, and abbreviations used in this Bible.

Each book of the Bible starts out with an introduction. Included is a key verse, timeline, content outline and answers what the book is about, good reasons for women to read it as well as provide guidance for studying it effectively.

Throughout the whole Bible, there are study notes that will highlight important truths and insights. I also love that they include different sections like biblical womanhood, hard questions, word study, doctrine, and character profiles.

Each book of the Bible closes out with a section called written on my heart. It is basically a devotional, word of application, celebration, or encouragement that you can remember truths from that book and allow the Holy Spirit to write them on your heart.

Last but not least there is the index of features listed out with page numbers. It tells you what is in each section of biblical womanhood, charts, doctrine, hard questions and maps and reconstructions.

Of course, there are acknowledgments, citations, contributors, the concordance featuring all the women of the Bible and maps.

As I have reviewed this Bible I would highly recommend it to my friends.

It would make a great gift for any woman who wants to dig deeper in the Word while navigating through this crazy thing we call life. It could be very useful or helpful for those in ministry, writers, bloggers, or who have a heart to mentor others. Whether you are a long time Bible reader or just beginning I would say this would be a perfect Bible to add to your collection.

Grab a copy of it today for yourself or for a friend over at Lifeway.com I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Wisdom Whispers Review: How Bible Study Changed My Life

God works in my life in ways that sometimes I don’t expect. You see His timing is always perfect. All I have to do is wait. Today’s post is something different but I want to tell you how God used Bible study and social media to bring me closer to Him.

One day I was feeling really down and discouraged and happened to come across a post on Instagram by Sarah Koontz. It was just what I needed at the right time. Her feed was jam-packed full of encouragement and uplifting photos that point to Jesus.

Since that day, I have been following her and God keeps using her in my life. So I signed up for her SOULfood weekly emails.

God kept bringing me closer to Him through the word and Sarah’s weekly encouraging and inspirational emails.

Fast forward a few months and she was getting ready to release her second free online Bible study on the book of Ephesians. So I decided to sign up to help her launch it. There were many different reasons why I chose to be a part of it. You see God’s timing was perfect once again. Right as I was reading the Worthy of the Calling study I was still going through a rough time. It came just at the right time.

Let me back up a little bit. Last summer I was going through a very difficult time. My mom was dealing with cancer and I felt like was dragging me down. I was tired and worn out. I was taking care of my mom, my own health issues, and still trying to balance life and work.

I continued to attend church but my personal Bible study time was suffering. I mean it was pretty much open Bible and read when at church and that’s pretty much it. If I was lucky I would read the verse of the day on the You Version app.

Honestly, I was struggling to make my quiet time a priority. Don’t get me wrong, I tried multiple Bible studies but kept falling behind or losing interest. So when I came across the announcement for her Worthy of the Calling Bible study and how it would only take 10-15 minutes a day I was sold. Let me tell you it changed my quiet time.

Sarah’s free Bible studies are packed full of truth in manageable bite-size pieces.

Now we fast forward a few more months and as I kept getting to know Sarah and watch God work in her life I was super excited when she launched her non-profit organization Living by Designs Ministries.

When I saw her post about volunteering for this ministry I prayed about it a lot. I mean a lot. I finally got the go-ahead from God to apply as a volunteer. I left it up to God. If it was meant to be then God would make a way for it to happen. In my mind, it would be an honor to work with Sarah after she has blessed me so much when I was going through a rough patch. Well, God’s timing was perfect and right and I am happy to say I was accepted.

Now you are probably wondering what this all has to do with Bible study but I’m getting to that.

Sarah is releasing her third free online Bible Study “Wisdom Whispers” on April 2nd. This is the last week to pre-register. Once again I am helping her launch it but I wanted to give you a few reasons why I think you should consider joining.

wisdom whispers pinnable 2.pngWisdom Whispers is a 31-day free study in the format of five days on, two days off. The study is on the life and wisdom of King Solomon. I love this format because the two days off are a nice break to rest or catch up if you get behind.

As I was reading through the study one quote that stuck out to me was this:

God’s ways are always the best ways -Sarah Koontz: Wisdom Whispers Bible Study

You see as I have been learning through Bible study and my Jesus time it’s so true. His timing and ways are always the best at the perfect time.

I really encourage you to sign up for this study. It can change your life. One thing that I get asked a lot is how do you have time for Bible study? Well, I know you are just as busy as I am but here are a few reasons this makes this study unique and amazing.

  1. It is delivered in email form right to your inbox each day.
  2. It only takes about 10-15 minutes a day to complete.
  3. There are amazing free digital gifts that go along with the study.
  4. All you need is your mobile device.

If you pre-register you will also be signed up to receive her weekly SOULfood emails as well. I promise you that you will be blessed by them.

So grab a few of your friends and sign up today! I can’t wait for you dig deeper into the Word with Wisdom Whispers.

While I am a part of Living by Designs Ministries this post is my own opinion and I’m not being compensated for reviewing this study. I wouldn’t review or recommend anything that I didn’t wholeheartedly believe in.

I believe in this! I hope you will join me!

Blessings, Grace Mae ❤

  10. Micron Pen Set  These pens are the best ones I have found for writing in my Bible. I personally don’t own this set I linked to but I know that they will work. They don’t bleed through the Bible pages and leave little to almost no ghosting on the back side. However be aware that there is a semi imprint on the back side if you press too hard. Otherwise, I love these pens so much. That doesn’t bother me so I use them anyways.

These are my go-to websites, Instagram accounts, and shops. If you would like me to post more on this topic please feel free to let me know and I can put together an expanded list. If you have some favorite resources you’d like to share feel free to let us know.
